Why an Ultrabook?

Ultrabooks aren't cheap. They don't replace desktops nor are they the most powerful PCs out there. Ultrabooks do trump tablets in usefulness, but so do any other recent laptop. They do not outclass Apple's MacBook Air (at least not yet) so why bother buying one?

  • Intel's Cutting Edge Processors
Integrating and making their latest processors a requirement to dub a device an Ultrabook, Intel's made sure that these are fast, long-lasting, and powerful computers. Currently the Sandy Bridge i3, i5, and i7 processors are the newest.

  • Easy Carry & Simply Gorgeous
There's no denying it, one look at any of the currently presented ultrabooks and you'll agree that they are easy on the eyes. These are fashion statement PCs. Most weighing in at less than a pound and measuring less than an inch, ultrabooks easily rival any other gadget in portability.

  • Fast... as in super fast
Ultrabooks utilize Solid State Drive technology which are about 54% faster than traditional Hard Disk Drives. SSDs do not have any moving parts. They are quieter and less likely to go kaput on you. Don't know much about Solid State Drives? Go to this article.

  • Price-y?
This one can be a little hazy. Current starting price of $1000 may not be in everyone's budget range, but this is still within a finger reach Apple's MacBook Air. Prices are bound to drop and when these PCs drop well below $1000, they'll truly be the PC choice for the masses.

  • Windows
2012 ultrabooks are going to sport Microsofts brand-spankin new OS, Windows 8. Current ultrabooks will be able to upgrade a-la Microsoft. More on this here.
